Afterschool Enrichment Programs (Spring 2017)

Electronics with STEM exCEL (grades 3-6)

STEM exCEL Electronics introduces students to the fundamentals of electrical engineering, teaching them basic circuit power distribution and wiring, where they will work to complete team projects on LED displays, and basic computer programming for the understanding of microprocessor principles. If your child wants to be an inventor when she/he grows up, this class offers a good first step. The aim of this course is to introduce students to electronics through stimulating projects with bread boards, circuits, switches, etc., sparking their interest to continue learning advanced electronic principles.

PROGRAM DATES: April 3 - May 22 (no class on April 10th or 17th)

Minecraft Modding with STEM exCEL (grades 1-4)

This Minecraft Modding course teaches students how to solve problems in a multi-player game while building and collaborating. Programming fundamentals are reinforced through creating mods in Minecraft. Students will learn to advance their programming skills writing and implementing large scale Minecraft modifications.

Tae Kwon Do with Life Champ Martial Arts (grades K-6)

This unique course known as the ACE Program is a 5-session character development program that incorporates physical exercise with life skill lessons.  This innovative series of classes is designed to not only introduce your child to basic martial arts but to also improve concentration, listening skills, cooperation and courtesy.  It will benefit your child at home, at school, and in team sports.

Girls on the Run (grades 3-6) 

Youth development program for girls grades 3-6 in teams of 8-20 girls. This ​10-week curriculum teaches girls to be strong, healthy and confident. Discuss topics like positive thinking, standing up to peer pressure, positive body image, and healthy relationships. Celebratory 5K run to end the season. Open to friends and family!

Running Club with Run Fit Kidz (grades 2-6)

RunFit Kidz is a running and fitness program designed to teach youths of all fitness levels about proper running mechanics, nutrition/hydration, pacing and goal setting. Our commitment is for boys and girls in grades 2-8 to run better, faster, and smarter and for the students to end the 8-week program with increased running knowledge and enhanced love for being active. The program concludes with a locally held 5k Celebration Run with all the bells and whistles.

"Restaurant Creations!" with Tiny Chefs (2 age groups available)

If your Tiny Chef dreams of someday having their own restaurant, then this is the class for them! Each meeting the campers will produce a different course (appetizer, soup, main dish or dessert) or an item from a certain cuisine and build a restaurant around it. Over the course of the class, they will also work on a final idea for their own restaurant, expanding on the types of foods their particular restaurant would serve. Students will be introduced to a variety of cuisines, cooking skills and presentations throughout the course.

Guitar Club with Fine Arts Matters (grades 4-6) 

After School Rocks in Guitar Club! Guitar Club gives students in 2nd-6th grade the chance to get their hands on a ‘real’ guitar! We provide the instruments for every child each week in class. Our experienced and encouraging teachers do a great job with both beginning and advanced students (no experience is necessary). Each session includes a brand new set of fun songs to learn from a variety of styles ending with a Final Performance for family and friends!

Chess Club with US Chess Center (grades 2-6)

Chess club combines skill-appropriate lessons with adequate time for the students to practice and play. Students are grouped by chess ability so that all are challenged. All that is required is a desire to learn!  The club philosophy places a low priority on winning.  Instead, students will focus on improving their skills.  Good sportsmanship is the key to having fun.
